5 Ways to Boost Endorphins

Let's talk about that endorphin rush - a natural high produced by the human body in response to exercise and other behaviors.

It is a beautiful thing that our bodies can produce this rush WITHOUT the use of illegal or prescription drugs. When you feel good following the release of endorphins you are likely to keep doing those things that put us in a positive mood.

So what can we do to increase or boost the levels of endorphins released by our bodies and give us that endorphin rush?

1. The number one natural way to do this is REGULAR EXERCISE.

Here are the benefits:

Better sleep

Less prone to depression

Increases your self-esteem

Feelings of accomplishment

Increased energy levels

Keeps you positive and energized

Exercise is number one because it is the most natural way that you can boost those endorphins. Not to mention the other added benefits it gives our bodies and our minds.

2. The second most natural thing you can do is laugh!

Do it as often as possible! Of course not to the point that everyone thinks you are hysterical.

Think about it, in most cases we all feel instantly better when we have a good laugh. All of that is thanks to the release of endorphins.I watch funny shows or programs or occasionally attend a comedy show, but for me, I get the most joy and laughter from my children and grandchildren. Try it sometime!

3. Maintain a connection with others and find purpose in your life.

Reach out to others, help them or engage in conversation.

Take time to create healthy relationships.

Volunteer your time in a rewarding activity.

Get a massageAll of these activities can help give you that feel good feeling and boost endorphin release.

4. Spend time outside!

Definitely one of my favorites!Enjoy nature in all its glory and get a good dose of sunshine every once in a while. It will make you feel good and boost those endorphins. Trust me.

5. Eat healthy

Eat natural and try to stay away from processed foods

Eat a balanced diet

Consume more antioxidant foods types. Leafy greens, berries, citrus, and sweet potatoes are all excellent sources of antioxidants.

Did you know that your brain is made up of a lot of fat? Feed it healthy fats. Wild fish such as salmon, nuts, avocados, and coconut oil are all examples of foods containing healthy fats.

Last but not least, limit alcohol and caffeine consumption.Over consumption can lead to dependence and withdrawal side effects. Not to mention that "coming down" from these substances makes you feel like crap!

I believe in DRUG-FREE alternatives to managing pain and stress. My blog focuses on drug-free alternatives and electric muscle stimulation using TENS and EMS.
