More Cravings Nonsense That Makes Me Disagree

I'm on many email lists and get lots of stuff. Below are excerpts from a short article on cravings for sugar and other junk that was in the newsletter of the Natural Health Sherpa.

I've taken the liberty of including the points I disagree with most strongly.

The newsletter article calls cravings "the weak spot in all our lives." It goes on to say that despite our diligent in efforts to eat well and exercise regularly, "those darn cravings for sweets and junk food never go away completely."The article points out -- correctly -- that cravings strike when we feel tired or stressed and claims that willpower can't beat them. Finally, the author calls looking for a way to end cravings for good "a far-fetched, impossible dream."Far-Fetched? Impossible? Not Even Close!

Of course it absolutely does not sound like a far-fetched, impossible dream to get rid of cravings. And if you're eating in a way that targets your brain chemistry and hormones for more optimal balance, cravings absolutely will go away. Completely. No white-knuckle willpower needed.

I've written quite a few articles suggesting liquid vitamin B complex (all the Bs, not just one or two) for handling cravings on a short-term basis.

But I've also written that eliminating cravings - not "curbing" them, as the article says later on - takes changes in eating patterns.

So which would you prefer: to 'curb' cravings temporarily so they come back to sabotage you again and again?

Or to end cravings completely, so you can make empowered decisions about food, rather than giving in to cravings, compulsions, bad habits, and the like?
