Available in attractive bottles, essential oils if rightly used can heal many diseases like insomnia, blood pressure, skin troubles, aches and inflammation, respiratory problems, nerve ailments, and so on. Here are some safety guidelines to follow for making a right use of aromatherapy oils.

Never use undiluted essential oils on the skin. Only expert practitioners know what can be utilized in an undiluted form and what quantity. Many authorities say that Lavender oil and tea tree can be used undiluted, even then many cases have been reported to get skin allergies when these were used in an undiluted state.

Always make it sure to do a patch test before applying any of these oils directly. They may cause reactions at times. Thus, when you switch to any of the essential oils for the first time, apply it on a small area of skin and wait to see the results for 24 hours.

Some essential oils are photo toxic. In sensitive skin, it can cause blistering, irritation, redness, inflammation, or burning sensation when exposed to UVA rays. Read the labels very well before purchasing the oil from the market.

During pregnancy, you need to follow a list of safety precautions if you are fond of aromatherapy. Especially if you have a background of epilepsy, asthma, or other complicated health conditions. Never use Camphor, Rosemary, Sage and Savin oil during pregnancy. You can opt for some hair masks made of these oils, but make sure you choose the right one. Considering an expert supervision will be a better choice to make.

If you badly want to give it a try, make sure to use only after the first trimester. Better dilute it with half the concentration of the coconut or olive oil for minimizing the chances of having any side effects. Most of the time external use of a diluted essential oil for massage purpose is different if needed to inhale. Thus, the concentrations differ as per the purpose.

Do not pour a lot of essential oil, even if you are using it for hair strengthening purpose. Only a few drops will serve your need.

Be aware that all kinds of essential oils are not for use in aromatherapy. Trust only qualified aromatherapy practitioners as they know the right way to make use of wormwood, onion, camphor, pennyroyal, horseradish, wintergreen, bitter almond, rue, and sassafras essential oils.

It is better to treat these oils as medicines and keep away from the reach of children. Also, keep them away from the fire, as these are flammable products.
